Even so, the amount of investment required JUST to be able to play with the cool shiny new teleporters makes plenty of runs impossible to get these things.

Gotta need both discount desks and copying desks for a few days and you'll be good to go. Let's hope the game won't shower you with Teleporter blueprints early days just to troll your progress.

Teleporter is a true game changer. You can automate stuff so much more easily. The price is understandable.

Teleporter is super versatile and has made runs that would have been very difficult before almost trivial so the cost is very justified

Not really, since the dumbwaiter is still unusable garbage no one will ever use. All other appliences are usable in their normal versions and their upgraded versions, but in this case its unusable in both versions, dumbwaiter is just garbage that takes more time to use as is, than just running around and carrying stuff manually, while the teleporter is more automated, the cost is crazy considering you need 2 and we are talking about a roguelite where you have everything random. Im almost over 140 hours in this game and 99% of my runs are where you see only 1 research desk per the whole duration of the run.

I think I've only had one time where I somewhat efficiently used a Dumbwaiter with a friend. Had a large map and he had picked a lot of recipes and one dish had its ingredients a bit far off since they weren't used anywhere else so we used the Dumbwaiter to quickly move items to my side.

Still, the Dumbwaiter's biggest flaw is its inability to be automated (unless there's a way).

Why's it calle da Dumbwaiter, btw? What did this contraption do to upset someone so much they call it dumb? Just call it a food elevator/lift.

But back on topic. getting Teleporters require quite an investment and a bit of luck. You'll need a discount desk and a spare blueprint cabinet (or two) and once you upgrade a Dumbwaiter if you get on eearly you just keep it and keep discounting it over and over. And before you know it it'll be quite affordable. And at that point you need to pray you'll get your hands on another Research Desk (or its upgraded variant) to transform it into a copying desk.

So yeah, lots of investment, but eventually it'll pay off. Hopefully.

Sure, mate, seeded runs, or quick reloads to get other appliences to spawn if you did not get a research desk, cheap methods dont count, playing same seeded maps as well as those always spawn same appliences in same order on same days. The only thing that sucks are apologists like you.
