Also I have USB SNES controllers which I can override keybinds for. I could be playing this with my wife with two controllers right now, except... you can't.
Due to the sheer variety of controllers, game developers should always have keyboard binds for extra players, so we can use joy2key to map any controller to those keys.
They probably also don't care too much about local multiplayer then. If you are a Local Multiplayer Enthusiast TM, a good USB controller is almost necessary.
Me and my friends have been having the time of our lifes playing Local MP games through Remote Play Together (this game include), and that is thanks to all of us having one (or more) good controllers.
Controllers are cheap, I dont know why anyone would say this is a game killer.
