Mushroom Stew Broken

It says to fill pot with water, boil the onions, and cook the mushroom to make the mushroom sauce, however you cannot fill the pot with water. I've tried pressing x on the pot, on the sink, adding onion first, and any other combination that I can think of, and the pot won't fill. I've lost multiple games because of it, and I have had other friends on different PCs with the same problem. Just wanted to bring attention to the issue!

just to clarify, are you trying to fill it at a regular, zero research, not upgraded at all sink?

I just had the same issue with onion soup. I've not used a research station once yet

Have you tried cutting the mushrooms? I forget if that is required or not for the mushroom sauce, i haven't actually gotten the card in quite some time.

I was able to put the pot on the sink, then use the sink, to fill the pot with water. Then do the rest of the recipe, basically try to wash the pot first.

Pick up pot, add onion to pot, place in regular sink, press X/activate to fill pot with water, add to hob untill cooked, then chop mushroom and add, then cook again and voila!

This is what I do: pick up whole onion, throw it in the pot, pick up the pot and run past the sink while hitting "interact". Throw pot on the hob / stove / cooker w/e. I can't remember if the mushrooms need to be chopped or not.

You cannot use any upgraded sink currently. You must use the starter sink or buy a basic sink, the game should give you one if you don't have one.

I've never had this issue.

Power sink, automatic washer, and wash basin can not fill pots. Only the basic sink. But it doesn't let you start the day without the sink if you have a recipe that needs water.
Also, yeah, the mushroom has to be chopped.

If you have a freezer, mushroom sauce lasts a long time, so one pot of the stuff will last multiple days.

For more clarity, this issue was with the demo version, and I haven't run into onion soup on the full version - maybe it's fixed. I'll follow up if I run into it on the full game.

It's fine in the full version, and you do not have to put pots in the sink to fill them up, just press X while pointing at the sink, you can even have other items in the sink while you fill the pot.

Filling water into a pot still does not work in the demo version.

I've just run into this exact problem and couldn't figure out how to fill the pot with water. Pretty big and problematic bug to have in your demo version to frustrate people with the game and then decide to not buy it.
Luckily I see from these comments that this isn't a bug in the full version of the game, but it does mean that the demo only lets you cook steak.

PLAYING THE DEMO VERSION AND LOOKING FOR THE SOLUTION?
LOOK NO FURTHER, THESE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE T:

Firstly, hold the pot and THEN interact with the sink, that will fill it with water. (common issue is people are placing the pot IN the sink, then trying to interact, this will accomplish nothing but a lost game)
Do NOT chop the onions, place an entire onion in the pot of water, cook that.
Chop the mushroom, put it in the pot, cook it again. It won't burn so don't worry about that.
Anytime you want to grab a serving, take a plate and interact with the pot of Mushroom Stew.

You now have the coveted Mushroom Stew.
