Upcoming content
Will any of the new stuff require you to level up beyond what we already have? Asking because im currently the level before you unlock stir fry and dont wanna be in the sad situation where the update comes out but I cant cook with any of the new things because I am too low level and need to grind for a few hours before I can cook with em.

Depends whats the new content, im constantly saying here on the forums that we still are missing part of the content from the beta version in terms of contracts, also game is out for 2 months now and the fact that we still did get no content let alone get contracts added back is kinda concerning. Also im still trying various things on how to make the christmas recipes usable, for now i only know that you can change the date, but that save will have to be manually deleted cause you will not be able to save runs on normal date anymore, so im still trying to see if i can find a way to make the christmas recipes usable at any time you want without you needing to do it on a separate or backuped save file.

Also to answer in regard of contracts, if they would be added and you are before stir fry you would be having most of them unlocked, cause most of them were part of previous level ups, and you would be able to look forward to 3 more contracts, 1 on same level as stir fry and 1 on levels 16 and 18.

@Asakura Shinichi, I couldn't tell by your message whether you're aware of the announced content in the upcoming Halloween update, but since it hasn't been officially said on Steam yet for whatever reason, I'll just share anyway that new content is confirmed to be coming on October 25th! No mention of contracts though.

Info on the update here: https://youtu.be/_--rkUJK67Y

As for leveling requirements, it's hard to know for sure. Presumably you would need at least the fish entree unlocked to see the new fish type(s?), but I'm guessing that the map will just be available to everyone regardless of level. They haven't announced any brand new entree types yet, but if those are coming then it's safe to assume you'd have to unlock those via leveling. From what was announced so far, it doesn't seem like your level will be an access barrier :slimetabby:

Wow a use for bins, that's actually a much needed gameplay addition. I had seen the corner grabbers and teleporters and was really meh about it because the community's focus on merely optimizing automation on the same 5 seeds really didn't need to be any easier.
But if they are spicing things up by requiring bins, that is a whole new wrench in the works that will be very interesting to deal with.

So much for believing the developer is competent, games out for 2 months, its a roguelite but meta progression sucks balls hard and is probably the worst meta progression of all roguelite games on steam, the dev adds cosmetics. GJ, thats how a lot of games die choosing to add cosmetics over actual content. I was playing for 50 hours with nothing to look forward on level ups other then thinking the devs will add more progression, and we got this got garbage.

I don't really agree with this take. Alastair is the solo dev for this game and I'm sure he's taken some time off since launch (or at least I hope so, because the stress from a game release must be immense), but regardless game development takes a lot of time. PlateUp is absolutely a complete game as it is right now, but even so he's promising more content to come. I'm sure the Halloween update is not the only one we will see.

That said, they haven't announced everything coming in the new update yet! Many QoL enhancements are coming, new dishes, and of course a little bit of Halloween spirit with cosmetics and maps; but we haven't seen everything that is coming; we've only seen a small portion. I don't see how it would be fair to judge this update until we see what is actually included when the official patch notes are posted.

But no matter what comes next, getting 50 hours out of a game like this sounds like a win to me!
