Why don't guests sit at pre-served tables? It makes full automation impossible.

I tried to get the anti-social with a fully automated restaurant, but the guests, decided that the table with the food that they will order, having the food is simply unnacaptable. This happened after I managed to do the automation in one of the medium-small restaurants, which made it that every bit of space counted. Can the guests be changed so they sit at tables with food?

Also you can just pick up the food and place it down again.

Don't run the food TO the table. They can pick it up from an adjacent conveyor, like in a sushi restaurant.

there's a decoration max level where customers will sit at a table even with dirty plates on it, maybe that works for food too?

It's not impossible. I'm pretty sure you can just conveyor plates off of tables.
