No one should care about your engravings (unless it is grudge 1) or gear (unless you still wearing starter accessories) until you reach 1370. If you have either proper stats or proper engravings then your good most of the time.
Maybe you died too many times and took the llives and they have to criticize your gearing...
It used to be very difficult on release but they tone it down. As long as you are doing things mechanically simple strategies like clearing baby scorpions, dodging the thunder tail it should be easy. Funny part is that back then you more likely require to break the tail, now it is not a requirement but helps your achievement lol.
I'm pretty positive that OP means casual play, which kind of points towards no alts. I didn't make my first alt until I was 1341 and I only ever did two things in T1 with her. The reliance on the alts is kind of a game breaker for me. I didn't see any other class I liked and being forced to play them to advance (At a faster rate.) is what pushed me away, outside of the timed events.
Stuck in the login screen. People crashed the login server haha.
Put it into perspective, you can finish your daily dungeon and guardian in 20 minutes or less for one character. The story on the other hand takes least 2-4 hours per island, provided you aren't doing your 1-50 which takes way too many. Casual play's fine, drop 20 minutes, do your daily, collect loot, see if your gear goes up. If you've got more time then you can spend it doing whatever else.
Comparably,
FFXIV: least 30-2 hour do go through daily stuff
League: least 20 minute daily
Genshin: ~20 minute daily per account, ,bit more if you're going beyond the daily primos
any mobile game: least 30-2 hours daily
