Shadowhunter is middle of the pack in terms of dps in tier 3 , pretty much nothing can compare to ranged dps but sorc is weak asf rn without all 3 engravings and gems so flip a coin if you like SH that much.

However i have run a few extra classes and i noticed the dps very quickly but soon worked out why Sorc will be a challenge in the near future.. so all in all we are powerful yes, but we are based on the multiple elements, and each Guardian is a fine example of how one particular element really does matter in terms of resistances, other classes mainly physical are not limited in that area, if elements are to be considered then the work around is simply to run a dps melee "crit" and the dps would be very effective. Crit resistance doesn't exactly exist.. So you could basically do a crit melee class and throw runes on it with stagger on hit. where as we have a cast time and damage based on element so we are more restricted.
With guardians and mobs in general you can just card up your side with resistances easily enough, but this does not apply in pvp at all, although pvp is balanced.. on a sorc we have cast time and that really is a problem, even if we use runes to lower cast time or apply a dmg res increase on cast it really is a challenge in the arena or pvp related islands in general.
I also see people mention that we rely on grenades when it comes to certain bosses, which to be fair is completely accurate as a boss in general is a specific main element like fire for example, that does not give us a lot to work with because we have multiple skills all of which are various elements but not all tied to one specific element in general, so running with grenades is a smart option.. although mechanic wise you would honestly think a sorc would be kitted out in a way as not to rely on grenades to start with, but due to cooldowns and cast time.. its really another +1 skill and it really does help.
than i made a sorc and this is when i decided that i dont want to play shadowhunter anymore
I main perfect suppression and have 7 alts to feed it to keep it going :3
