A Nose for News

Heya,
I am stuck on the quest A Nose for News on the annoying magick flow detector part, as I am sure many ppl have been previously because I have seen a ton of posts about it.
My issue, like many others will be no matter how much I spam around the detector nothing will advance the quest past the 2nd detection. First one I scan the bones, works fine, second I went around the marked area and nothing, so as any sensible gamer nowadays I looked up some guides. I must've looked up at least 5 different guides, retraced other people's steps exactly, even restarted the quest twice, put the marker exactly where they put it and then some, around the waterfall and what not and nothing will advance the quest... is this just busted and developer needs to fix it or what?

This quest works, just the indicator sucks.
You need to go "up", leaving the indicated area be, close to the waterfalls where you no longer can go up anymore because of the mountain.
There you start throwing this EMP crap around little pools.

done it, doesn't work.
used on waterfalls exactly like multiple guides showed, after that didnt work spammed it all around every inch of map on the area and didn't work.

If you're super dedicated to the quest make a new guy on a new server and grind all the way up there again, as they're roster bound [or should be] and roster = server.

But that shouldn't be necessary because there are many youtube guides for this quest like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNHz39T9cbA that show you exactly what to do.

There is trick here.
When you go down the evalator, then head through the passege to the quest area.
At the end of the passege are 3 cactus monsters next to a skeleton.

Use your detector on the top right most edge of the skeleton.
That will advance the quest for the first time.
Then use it again on the same location and it will advance the quest again to the small location at the top.
Its easy to find the guy there.

You need to be outside the indicated area (top). It won't be fixed as this is how it was on RU as well.

ye the 1st one is fine but no progress after that

And the next should be around the bones that are in the waterfall, further north

this worked, thanks a lot mate, thought I scanned there too but clearly didn't. been frustrated at this for days so really appreciate it! 3rd spot worked on waterfall after this.
