Keep in mind, this is Amazon with the AWS infrastructure....
This is a statement from someone who knows (not me :-D ) But it is 100% true!

"As an IT manager for over 20 years, who is responsible for several thousand instances on AWS for our company, I can tell you one thing: it is no problem at all to start up an even huge number of instances on AWS as hot spares and usually have them up and running many days before a deadline, to populate them with containers and to test them extensively in an automated way. It is now everyday life for hundreds of thousands of companies, because most companies need burst capacities, even very large ones, even at very short notice. All this is easily possible on the basis of AWS (and yes, also Azure or GCP, ...).

There is therefore no excuse whatsoever for this massively negligent, customer-hostile and beyond words dilletant action around Lost Ark. An entire team would have lost their jobs for this within the same day - including me, because there is no scenario in 2022 in which a fail of this magnitude could be accepted or even explained.

And we are talking about Amazon itself. The owner of AWS. And we are talking about a project that has been running successfully in other regions for years. I.e. on the part of the application there are no excuses either. It's unbelievable.

This is probably the pinnacle of incompetence I have experienced in 30 years of working in this industry. And twice within a very short period of time, concerning New World and now also Lost Ark. From Amazon. I really can't stop laughing ..."

All valid but they're raking the money in regardless...so why bother. Sad but true. I'd love it to be otherwise as I'm currently staring at error 100027 all the time.

It's Amazon Games, what do you expect?
They're known for being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and not being able to do anything even nearly decently.

But how many confirmed kills do you have?

I´ve never seen such a problem with Microsoft Azure (yes expensive). If there is any bigger issue it´s solved within few hours in worst case. But this is... stunning

Amazon should have checked that the koreans lack smart server tech and fiddled on some cluster solution which can´t be scaled well. So much for professionals when big profit is involved :(

Amazon took a lot of money from the founders and from everyone that bought e.g. a crystaline aura (so a monthy ♥♥♥ for comfort features unlock) so why they did not simply buy more capacity (servers, storage, bandwith, ..... ) ?

Because that would cause money loss. Look at the hourly pay they give their workers...what do you except from ppl that are paid worse then a cleaner?

They already stated the issue is down to the game's architecture, nothing to do with AWS.
decizion Feb 14, 2022 @ 10:09am
Maybe more a problem of how the game infrastructure was coded.
Still weird that everything is fine on KR and RU versions...
Maybe they butchered the code in the NA/EU version.

Great explaining but you fail to see Amazon does this on purpose! It's all marketing psychology.

Probably comes down to money. Makes me wonder about FF14 and their no new server excuse.
