you should always pick your main stat first, depending on your class its swift, spec or crit, the defensive one i always went with HP
For the most part people take HP, but it can be useful to use Phy or Mag based on the fight if you are having issues staying alive.
From info I have seen elemental damage like dark is always Mag Defense, and Phys Attacks are not elemental damage...
10% HP could increase your HP by 5k, 10k, 15k+ based on your character, but 10% Phy or Mag could block more damage than the HP is providing. Its why people go Phy Damage reduction on Chest for Elixirs over HP or flat damage reduction.
