Why Maintenance take so long in Lost Ark?
I started playing LA 3m ago, only game i played that is similar ( in a grind way) was Warframe. Warframe is way richer in content, obviously cause game released 11y ago, which means that code is more spagetti, right (ik that LA is port from Korea maybe thats the reason for all of this) . Updates in Warframe are something like this, in global chat u get the message that update is comming, stay in ur missions till u finish or just restart the game and update it, thats it. No maintenance, no servers down, nothing. Sry for eng.

Atleast while using tripods and things u usally get same loading times on hd and ssd, only thing thats matters seems like player count in the area and enemies

There is maintenance every Wed usually around the same time 8-9am UTC to 3-4hours later. Today is a bit longer due to a patch.

LA also tells you servers are coming down for maintenance in game in the chat. You may have just missed it. But they should be up in the next 30-40 mins hopefully as they are restarting right now

Yeah but why, like is this game so fup in programming aspect that simple maintenance take 4 hours, i kinda understand when they were merging servers and it took 20+h but this idk, you just have to live with that i guess, but curious why is it like that.
Because, they have to shutdown servers, backup a large database, and then apply any new fixes, restart servers and test their functionality.

3-4hrs is the norm for MMORPGS to be frank. Only on large patch days will the maintenance be longer, again this isn't unique to LA.

I take ur word for it. But again, still confused how Warframe pulled it of to update game almost insensibly, loading times are way shorter, game takes way less space, they even made exact same game with cross save and play on ios and soon on android, taking only 10gb. Played both games enough that i can tell Warframe has a bit more content. Also these 2 games arent much diffrent, a also have characters (60+) mods/gems, relics, points, standings(rapport), etc. Also huge database. + game look so good and run smooth even on potato pc.

How about you try debugging a game? Even though none of these complainers have ever written a code in their entire lifespan, they are nonetheless whining about unexpected or planned maintenance/update.

I understand that, just want to say that LA dont have to be like it is, could be way optimized, nothing else.
Sad news maintenance has been extended by a couple of hours.

Usually fixes are tested in non production environments before the release tho, so you can anticipate impacts. Applying a patch shouldn't require debugging code and database backups should be done continuously with incremental approach in order to reduce i/o overhead and keep it transparent to the user experience and to the service itself. Then incidents can always happen but it's from the day 1 of this game that maintenance takes unknown ETA... not so competent team imo
Servers are back into maintenance mode, i.e. restarting, so not long now.
