This is the worst MMORPG 😒🗑️
According to Steamcharts and the concurrent players, we have barely 18k "people" playing right now. FFXIV, ESO, GW2, and BDO each have way more players... on their own, they far exceed these numbers lol

Why is Lost Ark such a massive failure? What’s the secret to being the worst and having so few players?

Why is this game inferior to all other MMOs, perhaps except Lineage 2, the emperor of p2w games?

Hes a troll, he comes back every big update to doom on the game, must be one of those players that FOMO spent to do content and couldnt do it or failed to hit the honing to do HM week 1.

Imagine leaving your game running 24/7 so you can remote in through your phone so you can do things such as buying cards from the vendors, or doing stronghold activities, or using life skill energy, or checking the market.
It's amusing tho that's always the go to attack, oh look at how many hours they have in this game what a loser, and yet ironically a lot of the people that troll this game have their Lost ark activity hidden along with other games where I bet if you checked they're in those steam forums trolling too probably also on Reddit and on discord.

Also fomo has nothing to do with playtime or playing a game you don't know what fomo means do you

imagine you are leaving the game running 24/7 so you can buy things in it through your phone or doing life skill activities because you are afraid of missing out.
the literal definition of FOMO.
Yet these people are arguing its not FOMO.
0 self awareness

story of the LA players i guess

True.
Running a game 24/7 just to do chores is the defintiion of FOMO.
Else you wouldnt do that.

Why would i keep running a game when i am at work or something else?
The game takes over your poor soul.

thats also counting that Lost ark is only on steam while those other games have there separate client which also probably have a big player count.

It really is the worst mmo, who would grind the same content for 4 years straight while mostly playing with bots just so you can have the same gear as everyone else?

friendly reminder that even a game like diablo 4 started off steam.. and all the people which jumped in early on, which is well over 10 million copies sold are stuck playing off steam
and by far not everyone who jumps in now jumps in through steam.

even if WoW comes to steam eventually it would VERY likely not go above 20-30k concurrent players as the vast majority of people already have their accounts and characters in that game

just thought i need to get that reminder out again for the more uneducated people among us
Oh wait another ffxiv/eso/diablo 4/bdo steam user count again?

FINALLY a worthwile and interesting topic.
This could be very interesting and very good.
Like if we really want to define and find out if LA is the worst MMORPG, we could really get to the bottom of that. I mean this is worth a try.

Btw. I just recently watch an update stream of Diablo4 and they fixed a lot of stuffs that gamers complained about. Imagine that, Blizzard fixes and improves a game based on player feedback and actually does a good job? So one thing is certain, Diablo4 is the better mmorpg than LA. 100%.
So what else is there we can compare it with? Or should not compare it with anything else and just measure it by its own mechanics and gameplay?

Ok let's get it on...I will edit this list:
What psychological Dark Patterns do we find in LA?

-Invested/Endowed Value - check
Having already spent time and money to improve your status in the game, it's difficult to throw it away.
Presence in Lost Ark: While not as overt as some games, aspects like crafting or combat can give players the illusion of control over outcomes that are, to some extent, influenced by underlying algorithms and chance.

-Badges / Endowed Progress - check
Reluctancy to abandon a partially completed goal, even one forced upon the player.
Presence in Lost Ark: This game includes numerous progress-based achievements and milestones that reward players for reaching certain benchmarks, encouraging continued play to reach the next goal.

Complete the Collection - check
The urge to collect all the items, achievements or secrets in a game.
Presence in Lost Ark: The game features extensive collections, including mounts, pets, outfits, and other cosmetic items, as well as functional gear sets that players are incentivized to complete.

Illusion of Control - check
The game cheats or hides information to make you think you're better than you actually are.
Presence in Lost Ark: While not as overt as some games, aspects like crafting or combat can give players the illusion of control over outcomes that are, to some extent, influenced by underlying algorithms and chance.

Variable Rewards - check
Unpredictable or random rewards are more addictive than a predictable schedule.
Presence in Lost Ark: Loot drops, dungeon rewards, and crafting results often vary, creating a gambling-like thrill that can be highly addictive. The rewards are unpredictable, enhancing the compulsion to keep playing.

Aesthetic Manipulations - check
Trick questions or toying with emotions or our subconscious desires.
Presence in Lost Ark: The game employs high-quality graphics and engaging soundtracks that enhance emotional engagement and can manipulate players’ perceptions and moods.

Optimism and Frequency Biases - check
Overestimating the frequency of something because we’ve seen it recently or memorably.
Presence in Lost Ark: Players may overestimate their chances of success in various game activities like crafting or obtaining rare items based on anecdotal successes they remember or see from other players, often highlighted in community discussions.

oh they definitely would!

the info you provided is too much for them to comprehend.. or reality seems too scary to them, so hiding behind steam numbers only is more comfortable for them

Quite hard to tell with these people sometimes which one it is
