Just because the game has in-game auction system where you can instantly get equipment/mounts/pets/things instead of running the dungs/raids yourself, do you consider it P2W?
That's the beauty of market. It doesn't create or loose any resources. It only moves them from people who have resources but don't need them to people who have some use for them. It's always just a trade.
You know, just like many people simply pay for food instead of growing everything for themselves in "fair way".
I hate the argument you tried to make. Pay 2 fast as you call it is PTW, it's the same thing, going by your definition of PTW there are barely any PTW games out there because it's normal for the FTP players to advance their characters over time.
Just because a game is considered PTW does not right away make it toxic, stop over defending the game with that nonsense when it does not even need it.
IDK much about World PvP and the like but with the way arena games work I'm fairly happy with the game and I'm pretty anti PTW after spending my teens playing PWI and other Asian MMO's. From what I have seen the game is PTW, but it does not matter. It looks like a great game and some whale should not really effect me from what I have seen so far like with other PTW games.
Realistically, Lost Ark is Pay2Win in Guild Wars if your Guild gets the good gear faster than others due to them having more raid-runs etc. (Afaik, Guild Wars are not normalized... correct me if I am wrong.)
So, you can pay 2 progress, which gives you an actual advantage for a certain amount of time, which helps you win - so its pay2win "in disguise".
But thats the only part of the game that comes into my mind where one can argue that its p2w.
GvG isn’t pay to win tho… Hardcore players on KR stomp the ever loving **** out of Whales in GvG and Island PvP.
And neither of those modes matter really. GvG rewards are pretty trash and everyone gets the same rewards on Island PvP regardless if they win or not.
- until the skilled/hardcore players did catch up
After a while this issue wont matter anymore, true - doesnt invalidate the temporary p2w problem though. (I dont really care about that, but I cant deny it either)
A gamemode not being important is no argument, if its in the game and you can be (temporary) be better equipped than others by paying, its p2w, regardless of how important said feature is.
=========
Realistically, I dont think this will be an issue, but I am also not going to deny that it will be there for a while.
EDIT: My intention is not to hate on the game or so, I just wanted to point at the only one thing that can qualifies as p2w.
I don't about you, but I am looking forward to the Soulfist....
So i can't "win" a single player game then? Interesting
no, you can complete, finish, but not win.
At least in my language I never ever say I win Fallout 4, or I win Super Mario..
Objectively Meh. You’re kinda capped at what you can do in a day.
Speaking purely about KR you can buy stuff with irl money that lets you auto complete your dailies, which is how you progress in the game. It’s not cheap.
So you can pay to not play the game, where free to play players can just take a few hours to do all their dailies across all their alts and be done. Most people in KR don’t use the daily skip items as P2W. It’s mostly for if you’re incredibly busy and don’t have time with work, life, health and just want to keep up with your guild mates.
Where does it matter? It doesn’t. It might give you a slight advantage in island pvp and GvG but Guilds of whales get stomped everyday in KR by better players in these game modes. The advantage is so slight it doesn’t really translate.
Some PvE content normalizes players gear and skills and almost all PvP content does. The PvP content where it doesn’t equalize players you’ll be getting ganked by sweaty try hards more than whales. And again that doesn’t matter at all for pvp islands because everyone gets the exact same rewards win or lose.
And if I grind the game like I plan to, I want to feel my work pay off somewhere. Instead of it getting equalized everywhere.
The advantages you get for paying money in the game are so minimum and only temporary.
As for super competitive stuff like World firsts, it doesn’t matter. KR are going to invade the Western servers just like they did with Russia, speed run the game, and claim all the world firsts… atleast when the game first releases.
