General consensus on why someone gets Gatekept.

So I've been playing for some time and I recently made a new character Aeromancer using the new Story Express pass. Item level 1506. My main is 1540. Among regular legion raid titles, the most notable one that I have it Mayhem Legion Commander from Kakul-Saydon(Clown). I do not own Phantom Legion Commander from Brelshaza.

Every day my Aeromancer gets gatekept, whether it be on Legion Raids/Guardian Raids. My horizontal progression - All skill potions, all runes (except new Legendary Galewind from Sonavel). My server - EUW (Apparently dead and merged soon). So even on a "dead" server, the gatekeeping is immense. Even after the nerfs to the number of Guardian raids to be done daily, it still remains the same. Apparently people don't want to waste time even when content is reduced.

So I asked in Area chat, what would the minimum requirements would the players want for their lobbies for T6 Guardian Raids(Calliligos and above) and Legions Raids (Clown and above). Here's what they said -

1) Must have Phantom Legion Commander for Guardian raids (Calliligos and above)
2) LoS 30 must for Clown and above raids.
3) If below 180 roster level, don't bother applying
4) New character level must be 55+ minimum.
5) No LoS 30? That's fine, Deep Dive 30 minimum then
6) New class = Don't bother applying unless you're a friend.

After reading this most people will be probably be like "They're surely trolling you". Well, try making a new roster on a different server(Don't make it know you've played before). See how the new player experience is. Maybe it will be better, maybe worse.

I post this as a warning for newer players who are thinking of playing or have started playing. The game is good, the journey very rough. People like to blame the game for toxicity, but that's just shifting the blame. The game never changed since release so no use blaming the game.

If you are a group of 4 friends playing, then the gameplay experience is very good. 2 people or below, please be vary of this community.

Check on vent. Forget matchmaking. It's a waste of time and even if you do get into a group it's a 50/50 chance you're going to get gatekept anyways.

Use vent lobbies and be patient. Also, while you are on vent, you can play other games and when you find people to play with you can boot up the game. ^^

I like to solve problems for complete strangers. It is very fun. ^^

shi im 1526 and almost have a full set of brel gear and i still get gatekeeped because of my low roster level, and trying to level up your roster level is really boring. im still being gatekept from valtan lobbies lmao

These requirements are absolutely unrealistic, dunno who told you about this but he has some serious problems.

1)I play with peoples without PLC title all the time, one trick you could use is dont equip Mayem legon commander title, put a funny title instead or whatever you like, because peoples might think that you never did enough of brelshaza even if you did, in that way you can stay kinda anonymous in that reguard.

2)This the the most absurd of all, very few peoples have LoS 30, most have LoS 18 wich is fine and not that far to the power level of deep dive 18, unfortunately for a new player it might take a while to get it.

3)This is probably the biggest break point for a new player, if you have a roster level below 100, everyone will assume that you just started playing, maybe something around idk 130,i feel like is less noticeable.

4)With hyper express you have it for free, if not try to do your weekly and daily activities, purchase every exp potion ( from guild shop and sea merchant) and the biggest exp boost is story missions, dont skip those if you want to reach 55 quickly.
Honestly i dont even bother looking at character lvl, but its a big power boost for your skills (you can bring them to lvl 11).

5)Again, not required

6)Ye... the thing is there are so many of the new class in the first weeks after the release that every lobby in any content has already 2 of that class, so they might not take you just because your sinergy is already there.

Damn, that's rough.
I don't know any other MMO that gatekeeps that hard and in such a toxic way.
Thank God I didn't invest too much time in that game and chose to play the LA forum simulator instead of the LA lobby simulator.

Seriously. Rlvl; Gems; Clvl; Tripods; Ilvl; Cards; Set Bonuses; Weapon Quality; Achievements. The list goes on and on.

And yeah, avoid groups being led by someone with a mokoko buff. ^^

Game has 1 shot mechanics where 1 person fails the whole team wipes

This creates the gatekeeping effect as people's time is held hostage by other's mistakes

It's a flaw in game design (your mistake should kill you, not the team until enough of you die to not output enough damage to beat enrage timers etc) that leads to this

They need to remove all 1 shot mechanics and let people be responsible for their own HP pools

Now to be fair, there are shady players who make money on the side playing Lost Ark. Don't even think for one second that there isn't because if players can make money on the side while playing a video game they can and will do it. Why wouldn't they? =P

No matter how you play Lost Ark just play it your way. It's your time and money and anyone who says otherwise is trying to sell you a load of bulls--t. ^^

I actually care about how fast you kill a boss because I got other ♥♥♥♥ to do, aka play other games

The game has changed a ton since release. Early content was easy and causal friendly. Then each subsequent update added raids that were progressively harder and more frustrating, with more non-sequitur minigames (catch the balls, step on shapes, etc.) mixed into the fights, where everyone dies if one single person fails the minigame, regardless of your gear, level, hp, etc. This game has been a great experiment in getting 1m+ people together and filtering for the 20-30k most toxic people out of them, those that dish out the verbal abuse, and those that can take the abuse. Very Korean, very squid game. I guess that’s the most profitable group for the devs.

I love how players try to hold other players to their own bs standards that they make up on the fly, including gatekeeping.

Also, if another player yells at you on voice and/or chat, /report them. Lost Ark is very good about addressing players with anger issues. ^^
