Character slot pricing is absurd. Game needs a direct purchase option for 2-3 slots as "macro-transactions"

spend £18 can only buy 2 slots plus 600 "leftover" crystals,
spend £44 and you can buy 7 slots with a little leftover.

so for the sake of 200 lousy crystals (it's not a "bonus" if the denominations sold don't align to your cash-shop) the devs/publisher of this game have actively put me off giving them money for more of a thing i'm enjoying (the variety of gameplay).

The more devs that do this assymetric pricing the more I have grown to simply pump n dump most games on the F2P listings despite their few and rare engaging aspects.
Sole exception to date has been warframe due to the RNG discounts (so RNG i went 2 years without one at one point) and the genuinely low price of gameplay-item slots (while having unlimited material storage).I..

It is all psychology, but what it boils down to is, this stuff fools dumb people, it does not fool people who can do maths and pay attention, especially those that don't make emotional purchases, which is where the psychology comes in.

They are hoping you'll spend your left overs on some random junk in the store, since it is there anyway and it might bother you into, gotta use it, since its there doing nothing anyway.

Bit like the Stern package and the new summer event package mega bundle. If you happened to have planned to only put 10K crystals in and bought the first for 3300, you'll magically have the 5700 needed for the 2nd one, especially if you happened to have gone for the 12K pack with the 20% free having bought the 3000 crystal express pass ultra premium from the last event.

Funny how that all lined up to burn 12K crystals for basically. 3 mounts, 3 pets, 3 outfits, 1 instrument skin, 3 weapon skins and a bunch of mats for progression. Over a period of 3 months. Double the price of premium subscription!

At some point you either support the game directly and give them money, or you just mooch off a whale.

Anyway think you can probably make characters on other servers, if you don't want to spend money on slots. Probably the main reason the slots are so premium priced. 10 servers a region, that is 60 slots right there, if you crazy enough to play that much. Not sure if you can send mail between servers, but I think the AH at least is cross server for the region so...

Am sure someone else can confirm or deny that, am sure I read something somewhere along those lines.

I can deal with the pricing limit due to spaced out purchases and what a time investment each class can be. Plus I love the game and the class variety I adore. What I don't like is that we're set in the future to have more classes than we'll have total slots even with expansion tickets. I think that is a very uncool move. I'm the kind of person that wants to try absolutely all of them. But unless expanding the slots is on the horizon; I have to be at least a little picky about which classes I pick.

yeah I ended up basically doing that, it may work well-enough for voice-comm co-op as matchmaking certainly seems to be cross-server per region (i'm yet to test ir qwith my usual co-op group)).
still, i'd prefer all my characters sharing the same "legacy" (base, upgrades, gold and sundry items) and the only thing stopping me from giving them money is their deliberate idiocy over the pricing scheme/scam.
These companies need to learn that anyone with 20 seconds and a calculator can do a y divided by x calculation so their space-bux currencies are not hiding anything from 95% of the playerbase and the remaining 5 would click "buy" regardless of the pricing structure.

I have felt pre 2000 the ratio between vapid/stupid and grounded/intelligent on the virtues that are supposed to matter was about 10:1 but in the last five years I have become convinced it is more like 100 to 1, if not worse.

It does not need to be more money, just same money but different token. Probably an oversight on their part. They probably correctly assumed, western audience = not that into alts, so don't bother.

We are now 6+ months in -ish, some people are definitely bumping against the base complimentary slot allocation.

Unless they were one of those multiple steam store pack buyers. Am sure some of those dudes and dudettes have spare slots they'd not mind putting on the AH for gold, if it were an option.
