You ain't receiving a compliment there for your buffs. Just a blame that you didn't unleash them faster.
If this is how you feel then NO MMO is gonna go "GJ support". Playing support/healer in MMOs is a forgotten/thankless job and has ALWAYS been that way.
And comparing an MMO to a MOBA, lol.
And even in premades, its not common to hear, "GJ healer you saved our bacon there" Its just you did your job.
But having played without a bard and having a bard myself, bards make a whole lot of difference, between just using less pots in general from the shielding and healing and being able to be a little bit more reckless from the shielding, then buffs on top of that it matters a lot. Not that anyone would really come out and say it but they matter a lot. Only cavaet being people being overgeared in which case they can solo the whole dungeon and none of it matters anyways.
If you're looking for validation, you won't get it, occasionally you'll pop up mvp if all the dps is pretty even, but that's also quite meaningless. If you're looking for impact, you should already know it matters quite a bit.
Even when you have a clear run (on oreha was 2 gunlancers 1 soulfist 1 bard and the run went flawless, shields for days all round
The soulfist says at the end 'we took the we cant kill the boss and the boss cant kill us approach i see'
flawless run....
1430 bard btw
Tower was also a pain, i hope the bridge will be different but it probably won't.
As for team mates not talking -yea I get that but only on alts. My guild runs are always talkative.
Kakul Saydon would be next after Vykas. That raid is only 4-man. As 1/4th of the equation, if your buffs do not align with burst windows, your stagger is lacking (Vital Point), or you miss your Rhapsodies, you will likely not succeed.
As an aside, Drops of Ether is a pretty good 4th engraving for Bard. It constantly drops every 10 secs, gives your team mates a visual cue that someone dropped a buff, and is usually very noticed and welcomed.
1485 Bard.
I never have problems being MVP on content, love my paladin, I know my shields are making the difference, it's extereme fun gameplay and I don't require recognition. You said players don't talk and yes this game is not very social, maybe because the chat window is a trash system or 3/4 of the pop are bots.
If you are doing it correctly bards and paladins can have a huge damage window. You can't see it but if you are in a group with a support you notice it.
Also your shield is huge. It is free attrition damage.
There are definitely support that are not familiar with their skill sets. Most players don't criticize them because they are free pots. Like for example I see a lot of new bards spamming sonic vibrations or trying to hit the boss with it like dead center. That is a bad way to do it. When position matters you want to hit the target on the edge of the circle, that way dps players including yourself have plenty of room to maneuver and still get the buff on top of the mediocre damage.
I think players are into looking at damage numbers "BIG D Damage". Players should be looking at how to make their classes more efficient and understanding their skill sets. Right now there are no requirements for "BIG D Damage" except maybe some small parts like Valtan Ghost Phase or Phase 2 Argos.
The MMO genre seems to be in a very bad place. I may have to give up on it completely. Youtube videos for everything takes all of the fun of exploration and adventuring (learning by doing) out of the game. It might be that games need to be procedurally generated at least. And finally the number of toxic and cheating players seems to be growing. The only thing worse than pay2win is cheat2win.
Sometimes you'll run into chatty ppl or friendly ppl who emote back. However, I do not believe that has anything to do with your role being support or bard. It seems like a normal thing in mmo lfg systems, where most ppl just stay silent unless spoken to.
Also, I've seen more comments towards a good support then a good dps since good support is much harder to find then a good dps.
