You can't.
If you are annoyed by how slow he is, go with swiftness and always take double jump skill.

You cannot switch. Reason its locked to 1 character is the honing boosts it gives, its not gonna let you switch willy nilly for the honing boosts.

what if you delete the character you picked the event on?
