Then as you mentioned, rapport rewards, but they are time gated.
Another easy but expensive source of these points are skins, each skin gives points to one of the virtues.
The virtues are mainly tied to rapports, with which you can continue the character's stories, so they are a very long-term goal and are not something that can be gained quickly
Also, buy yourself cosmetics if you have the cash to spare.
-from the tomes, whether by hitting a certain completion percentage and getting potions or by completing things like hidden stories and field bosses
-from rapport levels with certain NPCs
-from completing quests, especially on islands. A really good island to complete is Azure Wind as you'll get 10 of each from completing the quest chain there
-then you can buy skins either from the store or exchange that rapport currency stuff (forget the name..providence hearts maybe) to get skins that will have less boosts than the store bought skins
Some islands need prerequisites, as for Azure Wind you should get a quest about a dying horse. Once done, there are tiny horse toys around the island (not shown on the map) which give you more quests.
Look up a guide, I recommend you google maxroll, they have guides for pretty much everything
