Back to topic. No I didn't heard anything. Taunt is Gunlancer exclusive it seems. The only ability, that makes Gunlancer considered a "tank". Just get the tank mindset out of the way tbh. There is no aggro system in this game and the taunt is not for tanking, it is for interrupting certain boss attacks.
If you like shielding and protecting others, paladin is actually a good choice. He is more the offensive support with shields. Heals are secondary. (yes, dear pugs. Paladin is not a healer! go chugg potions if you get hit by everything)
If you just want to be beefy. Scrapper. Sounds silly, because it is a martial art class, but she second place in (self)defense currently. Destroyer will snatch the second place (I think). Artillerist is also a good choice, but if you didn't like Gunlancer, you probably don't like him either.
Like its attacks are too slow, or the hit box is too weirdly shaped to use reliably or something. Not really sure what it is but the whole class just felt off to me. Oh, and yes.. I did try one to 50. Having similar issues with the martial arts classes, they don't feel quite right.. like too squishy for their dps output or again with the hard to target abilities.
Like the game, but some of the classes really feel lacking. :/
I had intended to main swap from Bard to Gunlancer early on when I started playing and quickly changed my mind. The defensive build wasn't bad, but for my tastes it's just too unwieldy. I'm sure if you can get it into the high level gear with good gems and skill trees it will shine, but it wasn't for me. Honestly it was a similar issue as with Monster Hunter and weapons like GS. Early on without monster knowledge it's rough, but once you're acclimated to the fights and weapon it feels good, I just didn't want to roll something that slow for my first character in an unfamiliar game.
Already tried, and its really more of a support than anything, and when you dont have a shield up he's really not that tanky. Not what i'm looking for.
Destroyer is probably the one i'm waiting for the most right now, he's the in between gunlancer and berserker (plus a big hammer, I main hammer in monster hunter).
