I've tried twice today and both times the timer just restarts and the passage never opens.

Use world map & search for the island for the timer - the local map when you're on the island is wrong it seems.

Glad I have it behind me, my 2nd attempt didn't work either.
Then the quest circle magically appeared.

It's every two hours and you have to check that event timer thingy.

Use the alarm, the timer on the minimap is 1 hour out of sync.

Had zero issues with this. Timing is easy: 12:20 2:20 4:20 6:20 8:20 10:20 AM & PM.

Other than them taking the servers down at 6:20 the other day, no issues at all with the quest. The event is not channel specific.

The only slight hitch was that the event was a few minutes late firing off.

NA-West, YMMV on EU or NA-East.

It depends on where the server is. When I played on EUC (UTC+2) this was the case but on EUW (UTC+1) the minimap time is correct.

I had to do mines at the odd numbered hour. Might be because they are doing by EST?

Revelry Row's island token comes to mind. Or Shadowmoon Market's requirements. Or Azure Wind Island, Metus, Whispering Islet, or some of the rapport tokens that take 83 days without rapport items...

Nineveh won't even talk to you unless you've gotten a song that is an RNG drop from an island that only shows up on weekends. Yeah.

The island clock is not technically wrong, however it is hardcoded to a single timezone in regions that have multiple. Always being 1 hour early worked for me in the end. (UK)

The quest could be better designed and executed for sure but if you ask for help (even in area chat) it should go a lot smoother.

when the event timer is 0 and it begins, the door only opens if someone plays the song of resonance ? whatever (reveals hidden things)

If there's a crowd, someone will play it. move into new area, loot 2 mokokos, play the song back to back to fill up the event (starts 30 seconds after you get there) and get loot, hope its the island soul, 1 branch etc

get 3 branches, (ie. return 2 more times and do it again to get 3 branches total) hand to fairy and get the other song from her

you don't need to be in party for it

you do need to play the song from the pirate coins in peyto npc
