Almost everything has a keybind (Left on the D-pad opens the inventory )
I have my KB close by so I can just tap on the kb shortcuts however.
I expected some ARPG fun like Diablo3 but its just too PCish for my taste perhaps.
I could give you tons of tips for a smooth controller experience but because of your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ whiney post i wont :)
And honestly, most of the combat gameplay is easier/better with a controller, like it is with all character action games in third person. Clicking for movement is nowhere near as precise and smooth as using an analogue stick. One of the best movement patterns is circling around the boss. Mouse control doesn't even allow this in any way other than mass clicking it in a circle, and even then it's not smooth. You are also faster to adapt to what a boss does, as tilting the analogue stick into a different direction doesn't take as much time as moving the entire mouse and clicking. Of course, it may not be a lot, but it helps.
The only issue is stuff that you normally have to aim with an "aoe field". There's an auto aim function, that however is incredibly arbitrary and doesn't work very well. That said, this function works instantly, so that is an advantage. +- 0 in the end.
On the one hand, it sometimes aims at an enemy you really don't want to aim at (i.e. something further away while 10 enemies hack on you). On the other hand it will NEVER miss, is instant and can even quickly aim at stuff you haven't even realized is there yet.
I'm using a DS4 with DS4Windows, but I just added L1+RStick to zoom in-out, that's it. Everything else is custom mapped in game.
This game should copy FFXIV's controller implementation. Yeah, copy it, don't change anything. FFXIV's controller is perfect.
Also, for the naysayers, games like this one play perfectly fine (sometimes better) with controller, specially if you're using a melee class. Simple fact: you don't need to get clickitty with everything, just move with the stick, adjust character's facing and press buttons.
Deathblade and Wardancer are a delight to play like this.
Half of the people in my guild have never interacted with anyone in chat so I'm suspecting that's it kkkkk
