How is this game with a controller?

I plan on playing this game at some point and when I do I will use a gamepad to play as that dual wield gunner class, like a top down shooter. Before I install it, I just wanted to make sure the controls are solid enough to play through the whole game with a controller.

personaly didin't have any issue with controller other then maybe the slow moving speed of the cursor if you don't use the auto target spell function for ground targeted skills

im a controller user for 99% of games including fps games but honestly it works so much better with kbm and ive found it fine considering i never use kbm for gaming. just try it with kbm youll get used to it quick. the main issue with using a controller is trying to aim curser with a analoge stick

so much aiming needed i cant imagine it being that fun. Diablo went way out of their way to make it work for them for example.

I use controller for everything, except the menus. It works perfectly fine.

Everything receives pretty easy controller except for menus. Combat and NPC interaction beyond that is made simple.

You just need to get used to it. Might need some changes in the button layout to fit your playstyle though.

That's why there's an auto aim system. Or you play something like Scrapper, where most skills are meele attacks, where you only need to look into the right direction anyway.

Controller is very nice when fighting, feels better than m/kb, but you need to use your keyboard if your gonna write something. If you want to adjust the speed of the mouse/gamepad cursor you have to do it under gamepad settings in steam, not in game.

You will hate that class with a controller, every skill with point/target is the worst. The cursor movement (no slider in-game btw) is really slow and it would be a thousand times better if it snapped to the character so you could target within the skills range better... but it doesnt. So, you are left with enabling auto target, which is fine if all you are killing are 1 mob... which is rare, and once the auto target snaps you cant change it, like really... who came up with this?

So yes, it works - but choose a class with no/less targeting skills like melee classes.
The controller option is an afterthought, not the main feature so... :/

The controller bugs quite often as it's not true controller support but just a mouse and keyboard mapping to the controller. Which leads to issues like the powers not firing because your right stick is hovering over something interactable which for some reason breaks the trigger holds.

It's definitely still easier than keyboard in combat and has lots of buttons accessible easily but you will feel the pain of annoyance with how unfriendly the UI and gameplay is towards controllers given that they were designed as an afterthought instead of true compability.

The name of the configuration, wich u can import with the controller-config-tool is "STEUERUNG für das STEAMPAD".
if the intrest is big enough i can try to translate it.
