I 100% agree with you. 3 Tiers at release.

Blue Crystals
You can get blue crystals by purchasing them using real currency or in-game rewards. They are the main currency for purchasing cosmetics and other in-game items. Obtaining them for free is a rare occurrence, and you can trade them for gold in the auction house.

Carnelians
You obtain Carnelians by completing daily quests and killing specific monsters. They can buy boxes that improve your relationships with NPCs, while others provide cosmetics for you to wear.

Courage Tokens
You earn courage tokens by participating in Lost Ark’s PVP. Content like Arenas will provide you with a steady source of these. You can spend these tokens at the PVP exchange vendor, where you can buy titles, mounts, and more.

Estate Orders
You acquire estate orders through completing missions with your estate team. Organize a squad and send them out to locations to trade with traveling merchants to earn Estate Orders. You can use this currency to buy crafting materials and other resources.

Gold
You can get gold through dungeons, raids, and special events. You can also purchase it by using real-life currency. Gold’s use is for purchasing items in the Auction House.

Peons
Aside from gold, you’ll need peons to complete auction house transactions and trades. You can only buy peons using blue crystals or cash

Pirate and Voyage Coins
Gain pirate and voyage coins as you complete events in or near water areas. You can then go to pirate ships in harbors and use them for trading. You can exchange them for consumables and resources. There are also places where you can exchange them for collectibles, emotes, and more.

Rift Shards
You get rift shards by participating in Chaos Gates or rift encounters. These are random in-game events. You use them to purchase random map boxes, which opens the door for specific dungeons depending on what you pull.

Royal Crystals
Royal crystals are only accessible to those who can pay real money for them. You use them to buy most of the cosmetics in the shop. These include character skins, exclusive weapons, and pets.

Shards
Shards are character-bound currencies that you use to upgrade items. Different shards represent gear tiers. You give them experience and level them as you play to use them.

Silmael Crystals
Also known as guild crystals, you gain these by participating in different guild-related quests and events. You can use them in a guild-exclusive shop.

Silver
Silver is the common in-game currency. You pick them up from monsters and get them as rewards for quests. It also has the most uses, from upgrades to fast travel and crafting.

Yeah. That is how korean mmos are. They tend not to have good stories or in-depth gameplay to keep you playing, so instead they have a bunch of poorly explained systems and mechanics to keep you guessing what everything does.
Humans are naturally curious, so people playing these games are compelled to figure these systems out.
When they do, they either invested so much time that leaving is no longer an option due to sunk cost fallacy, or you just leave, in which case you are not the primary target of this game.

The cards are an actual problem; the way they are introduced is badly designed.

You get information when you get your first cards -- and I kept looking and searching and looking and searching because I couldn't figure out how to equip my cards. Then I thought "ok, the equip-UI is on the same screen as a set-UI, so maybe you can only equip completed sets". But, I couldn't find my cards in those sets either... so I had no idea what was going on.

It wasn't until much later that I learned that a) not every card is in a set, and b) you can only equip cards from sets, and you'll need at least 2. However, the first cards you get don't go into a set at all... hence the confusion.

They should just give you 2 cards for a set initially, not 2 useless trash cards.

I will leave this here. But since you are skipping probably everything you didn't follow the quest and just did what you were told
Operation40 Feb 24, 2022 @ 11:00am
also engraving and books.. roster bonuses, continent completion bonuses, collectables, and probably a dozen more I don't know about.. so many systems.
i might be too old to keep it all straight.

YouTube has video's on the game telling you, what-where- when and how. Easy. Good luck with the game.

also engraving and books

I've only just unlocked stones and engravings, so nothing to worry about yet for me. I keep all those recipe-chests in storage anyway, until I have a better idea which recipes to select...

Books, I don't have yet.

So yeah, these systems are given to you step by step.

roster bonuses,

Aren't those obvious?

I mean, I have no idea what the "virtues" do, but I have some idea what Str/Int/Wis/Vit do (or whatever the stats are that you get). And "Rooster"="for all chars on that server".

continent completion bonuses,

Fill the tome, get the rewards. Where's the confusion? There's stuff you can't get early on, but other than that...

Also, the boss seems to be a "world boss", so forget about killing him :-)

collectables

Well, you can collect them. Early on, it seems to be just the seeds and hidden stories; I recommend using the internet to find them...

Cards are a totally endgame mechanic you shouldnt care about. To get worthwhile bonuses you would need far to many duplicates. You dont upgrade anything. You get these cards.. use them and forget about it until your card deck is full.

I mean I run with 3x5% elemental dmg resist and I dont care at all about them since it is a mechanic designed to be in the background. Just another thing you get.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
