So I've killed him a couple of times now and no tentacle has dropped, is it a random drop?
I read somewhere that it was a gauranteed drop with your first time kill

It is not guaranteed, it's random. I got it on my 2nd kill.

keep killing, then wait 20/30mins after you get it and right click it to add to adventurer tome after it hatches
