Some people appear to be confused about censorship in Lost Ark

It doesn't have to be a government entity for something to be considered censored.

If a book publisher takes out certain words phrases or chapters, it's censorship

Anime localization teams censor things all the time. Last time I checked funimation wasn't the government but that didn't stop them from putting bright blurry white gradients over all the violent parts of shows like Blood-C.

If a game company edits models to be more covered up in one way or another, its a form of censorship

For context here, the issue isn't the degree to which things were changed (though there is no acceptable degree of censorship), it's that were were essentially lied to.

Most people understand this, and I honestly think everyone does, but people who have a vested interest in games being changed to suit their sensibilities start the red herring comparison of something being "not real censorship" which is absurd.

Tbh I don't think blaming AGS in censorship is fair. I mean - if they had their way they would've shipped the game as it is in Korea - that's far less work to do.

But they had to censor because in the west there will be some vocal group of perpetually offended minorities to reee at the stuff if it went live as is - so AGS just doesn't want to deal with all the headache and bad press.

To put it otherwise - it's modern societies to blame for such outcome. And since west is all about democracy - ultimately, it's all of us individually to blame for this (myself included)

I see your point - I presume you mean that now folks complain about censorship - but that's not something that will give them negative optics. Besides, AGS is a western company and backlash for them would be felt worse than for Korean ones. That's why I think companies like PA care much less about censoring outfits in their games (talk BDO and their costumes)

They're legitimate. And we were lied to, so I'm curious for them to explain themselves and exude a molecule of accountability. Which granted, I know is rare for western devs, arrogant elitists that they are, but there is a first time for everything.
