Depending on your class, you should alter your build to bring as much stagger as humanly possible (both for Alaric and the bright orbs) because there's going to be a few people who, even if they get through check 1, won't remember 2 and have everything on cooldown.
Some guides recommend sleep potions for the bright orbs, but this is a horrible idea. Sleep can be broken, pubbies WILL break it.
Apart from that it's just a matter of hoping people haven't huffed glue for long enough to remember the arrow positioning and won't get shredded by his regular moveset.
Your groups is either gonna smash the stagger check and then in turn the orbs in turn or it's not. It's pretty much as simple as that. Probably like a 50/50 chance when using match making from my experience.
this is why when casuals or avg players start reaching argos the difficulty is going to skyrocket.
already seeing a drastic decrease in Quality of players in 1325-1340 abyss dungeons, just 2 weeks ago i could go in and complete without a single wipe now i cant even get past the damn clown because every single teammate dies before phase 3 already happened 4 times.
this is what happens when you nerf Tier 1-2 Bosses, those reaching T3 are really bad players.
I like to read about the mechanics and watch a short video before I go in, and it still seems like there is a small adjustment to make. Not every character has the same movement speed/double dodges/stagger like they show in the videos. Plus, many of the videos show players who are completely overgeared/high ilvl for the dungeon making it appear easier than what it is. I guess it is how views are generated, look at how easy this was for him.
I don't claim to be good at this game, and yes I mess up sometimes even when I know the mechanics. Even being way over leveled for a dungeon doesn't guarantee success if the rest of the party doesn't prevent the wipe mechanic.
if you are rage quitting now i think is best to uninstal the game since the Raids get drastically harder later on, if you cant take a lost then any difficult game is not for you.
it's not about me not being able to take a loss, it's more that i've spent 4 hours for nothing with groups giving up the whole time instead of trying to learn the mechs and listen to other people. and then you have to run the whole dungeon again, with james already knowing it'll be the same procedure like everytime.
i don't have a problem trying alaric 4-5 times or more with the same group. but having to go through everything again with groups after group is killing me.
Alaric is for fix statics. I only have one static for it.
You can get more mats and cards by other less stressful means.
The important mechanics to keep in mind regarding Alaric:
- Safe Spots: This mechanic appears approximately every 90 seconds. They spawn at 9, 10:30, 12, 1:30, 3 and twice at the 6 position (one further up, one down). You need to stop the fight the first time around and plan this out. Another spot spawns randomly near the boss. The most experienced player or possibly a tank should probably take that.
- Annihilation: When the boss goes to the Middle after the 28th and 12th HP bar and the screen closes down on you from left and right there's a stagger check on the boss. Use High Stagger Skills or Whirlwind Grenades on him immediately to pass the check. Then immediately after run outside the circle and bash the small golden balls heading towards the middle (basic attack will do here), stagger the bigger ones.
- Freeze Orb: After the boss is down to about 20 HP bars, a blue orb with a whirlwind around it occasionally appears in the middle. The dome AoE can be seen across almost the entire battlefield. To stop it freezing the entire party and possibly leading to a wipe a player has to run into it. He will be briefly frozen, but better than the entire party.
That's it really. Other than that you just need to do enough damage and try to stay outside his freezing circles or get away from your party if you have a freezing aura around you. If you're having trouble surviving try some Engravings like Heavy Armor, Crisis Evasion or Emergency Rescue.
your spacebar has 'all immunity' during cast so you can spacebar through it and not get frozen if done properly
