Australia (OCE) won't be receiving a server and why that's a bad look for Lost Ark.

I've already submitted a refund request for my gold founders pack.

I find it absolutely appalling for a company like Smilegate to not even include 1 or 2 servers upon release for Australia. Before anyone sits here and says, "Yeah but the ping to x country is fine trust me I've played it!" please stop skirting around this issue. It's 2021 and server maintenance/upkeep would be an extremely small dent to the pockets of a company that makes an absolute KILLING from their micro-transactions. It doesn't help when you try to downplay the issue.

What's even worse is the fact that they're going to gauge whether or not our region is worth putting a server in AFTER they release the game to us with the only option to play on 250+ ping. For anyone holding onto hope that they might do it using this method then please give up hope. They're basically setting our region up to fail without even trying to drum up interest. A much more serious and realistic approach to our region would be to release with 1 or 2 servers and if the interest isn't there, THEN they would remove the servers. Instead, they're going to release it and find that an extremely small amount of people from our region will play on the insane ping and pat themselves on the back and say, "See! It's good we didn't release to that region because they obviously don't want to play our game". The reality is that they'd have a much more accurate representation of our region's interest if they released to us with a server. Who the hell wants to play a game on 250 ping?

It honestly blows my mind that they're taking this approach with us and gives a really bad look to Smilegate and Lost Ark. At the very least, why not allow us to just play on the Japanese servers with an English client? At least then we'd be able to play with 100 ping instead.

they make it sound like 40million people isn't enough for a 2k population server when even in New World (which lost over 90% of its playerbase) Oceanic Server has MORE population than NA West still

Does exitlag count as a VPN? Because technically your not allowed to play using one. I want to give it a go, but worried i will get ban or set off anti cheat or something.

Exit lag is lying to you or only talking about distance from Amazon's Oregon server to whatever point exit lag is testing from (ie. not from you to server in America)

Physical distance and speed of light in the cables means its impossible to have 70ms for the full trip from Victoria, Australia to the middle of North America where the Amazon servers for NA west will be hosted

What IP did you test to? Post your screenshot here for Exit Lag

Harath's 155+/-ms is the lowest a real test from VIC to Middle of North America can be in real life scenarios (in comparison, on Optus HFC NBN mine was 185-215ms from VIC to NA West (Oregon NA))

P.S. For another example, ping from VIC to Sydney Servers for Diablo 3 = 24ms, FF14 Oceanic Servers in Sydney, Ping from VIC to Sydney = 24ms. No way it's crossing the ocean and half of North America in another 50ms.

Haha it may have been lying to me after all. Best I can get now is 142ms. To Oregon 2.
That's still imo quite playable for a NA connection.

successfully refunded my plat pack, i'd be a fool to pay for a game that doesnt want to put servers in OCE, published by the same mega-corp that supplied OCE servers to New World, says it all, i'll play it, but casually, not worth anymore effort.

Ah yes, that's my favorite part - the chargeback if that happens. "We" lost as well with having them revert the censorship done so far, so all in all it APPEARS AGS is rather... ahh, shall we say, "unreceptive" to feedback and community demands.

They announced using any type of VPN if caught is bannable… so yeah I’d avoid exit lag..

There are videos already on how you can work around it, VPN was bannable on KR as well, but companies still figured out how to make it work. i think VPN bros gonna be fine after they update it.
