As for the recommendations so far, I've also seen people also say soulfist. If anyone's actually played any of these classes in the other regions I'd be interested in hearing your input.
Gunslinger/Devil Hunter have three stances, and understanding how to maximize damage windows between the three takes a bit of knowledge. You cycle them a lot as you fight, you can minimize this later if you choose to take the class engraving that locks out one of their stances, both play styles are viable endgame.
Arcana you have a sort of set rotation you'd like, but she has a combo and card system that relies a bit on RNG, you can hold 2 cards at any one time and each one has a different type of buff associated with it, so understanding that layer of her can really set you apart along with a little good luck. It takes time to learn what each one does, and in what ways to use them.
Soul Master isn't really complex, but works on burst windows with their "good" class engraving. The biggest difficulty is not missing your ult, since that is a really nice chunk of their damage. It's fun however if you like big numbers, and working around your big damage cool downs.
If you are only playing NA release, you might look into GS or DH I guess (GS is commonly considered a better DH, but they have different engravings so you may find you prefer one or the other), but all classes have their own nuances and such to learn really. You'll find yourself settling into a desired rotation for harder contents in the end with pretty much anything.
Both require you to stance dance between 3 weapons but Devil Hunter also require to be behind the boss at melee range so your positioning become way more important on DH.
Some of you guys use devil hunter/gunslinger interchangably, so i had to google to find out that is the male version. Odd how changing the names made it 10x more confusing. Should have kept the names and let the community come up with a nickname.
That's typically the balance issue with classes that require a bit more. They are either so op it makes everyone else complain because they feel they cant compete with less options. Or they can make you say out loud "Why am I finger breakdancing when this guy is one shotting me/the boss?"
I just wish it woulda done a little bit more damage overall. After playing on a berserker alt it was hard to have motivation to play dh considering how much easier and more forgiving that class was for noticeable more output. What also blew my mind was with proper setup his ultimate would deal more damage than my DH who was like 160 ilvl higher rofl. wtf
Keep in mind this was like over a year ago and tons of updates have happened. I read a bit ago that classes were more balanced from recent updates.
Although Gunslinger and Devil Hunter are mirrors, keep in mind they are different as well, they have different engravings which impact how you play that character, while still sharing a lot of abilities. Devil Hunters damage is all in shotgun, he only has one good rifle skill, relies heavily on back position. Gunslinger damage is split between shotgun and rifle, she has tripods that remove the back attack restriction for shotguns, eliminating that need to fight for back space.
Both are good, but provided you have the same level of skill and knowledge, you'll do better as a Gunslinger, just due to quality of life adjustments of being a newer class, and better engraving/tripod choices.
