Capturing ships
Is there some magic to capturing a ship?

I keep boarding and knocking crew down to 0 but they just surrender and then leave. I would like that hard fought battle against the bad ass pirate to mean that I get their ship lol

Save/Load ! И так много раз. У меня бывали случаи захвата 3/3 кораблей противника, а бывало по 20+ раз Load ! При этом обычно на абордаж не стремлюсь. Совсем недавно была удобная система - запись в начале боя когда стороны уже в "боевом поле". Сейчас это убрали (зачем не знаю) и надо записаться перед боем в фиксированную запись. Иногда отряд врага после загрузки надо немного подождать и пролететь порядка 5 км.

Save/Load! And so many times. I have had cases of capturing 3/3 of enemy ships, and it happened 20+ times Load ! At the same time, I usually don’t strive for boarding. More recently, there was a convenient system - recording at the beginning of the battle when the parties are already in the “battlefield”. Now this has been removed (I don’t know why) and you need to sign up for a fixed appointment before the fight. Sometimes the enemy squad needs to wait a little after loading and fly about 5 km.

Who are you fighting that it doesnt give it to you and what game version. Last i played yesterday it was a 100% success rate of capture if boarding killed last crewman unless they were specific named or story mission enemies who are 100% uncapturable. Also make sure to toggle escorts weapons off when boarding it only takes 1 cannon to hit last crew and ruin the cap

So if the last crew is killed by weapon fire, the cap wont happen? Well that is likely what the issue is. Let me look and try it out and see what happens.

Its just random it seems. I have captured ships without boarding a couple times in a row when they just surrender to me.

in 3 out of 3 attempts I have capped. I did as suggested in disabling firing once a ship was being boarded and each time the cap worked.

(Just dont forget to enable your ships cannons in the next battle :P )

Also keep in mind that most if not all story based fights always result in blown apart ships. Can't capture those.

Hi, would you be able to let me know names of fleets that gave up to you while you're boarding them (without firing at them at the same time)

The whole "They surrender and escape with their ship" is pretty dumb.

Probably just game mechanics for economy reasons, but still, pretty unrealistic and dumb.
Would be better if it showed just the enemies scuttling their ships to avoid capture or something like that.

But "we surrender, now we can escape freely" just.. it is wrong.

5 times in a row i'm "boarding" an enemy ship I want to capture and it ends up surrendering and escaping. :steamfacepalm:

Ya the surrendering is deadly stupid. Almost want to make a negative review just on that honestly. Just let us sink the ship or give us a chance to capture if they surrender else they blow themselves up. Them just running away for free when wanting to kill me is just dumb. I guess I'll accept surrenders if I am robbing green NPCs, but enemies shouldn't be able to run away for free.

Приветствую! Я уже несколько раз удачно использовал абордаж (обычно на крупных кораблях вплоть до линейного крейсера) но для захвата должны быть соблюдены следующие условия:
1) Корабль не должен быть квестовым;
2) Корабль не должен быть разрушен в ходе абордажа;
3) Корабль не должен принадлежать фанатикам (они их вроде всегда подрывают);
4) Самое главное - в ходе абордажа Вы должны довести вражескую команду до 0.

Greetings! I have already successfully used boarding several times (usually on large ships up to a battle cruiser), but for capture the following conditions must be met:
1) The ship should not be a quest ship;
2) The ship must not be destroyed during boarding;
3) The ship should not belong to fanatics (they always seem to undermine them);
4) The most important thing is that during the boarding you must bring the enemy team to 0.

Hello,
I have found the following non-story ship always surrenders instead of being captured.
I've replicated this twice, with all fleet weapons and riders turned off while boarding completed.

The ship is the flagship Monarch Eagle of the power 50 Royal Guard fleet in the Coil Trails region.

Additionally, the other royal guard fleet ships in that region appear to be uncapturable- the Cedar Condor which appears in two fleets will not take any crew losses ever while being boarded. This is not due to it's high defense: I was boarding with a Monarch Eagle with 110+ boarding attack power, while the Cedar Condor only had ~50 defense. They would just never lose any crew, no matter how long the boarding went on for.

Thing is... Enemies can bombard us while we are boarding AND WE CAN'T SHOOT BACK as a single shot can cancel the capture and they just surrender.

Many times I was in a way better shape and started boarding just to be bombarded and I can't shoot back cause, you know, the "I surrender now let me go with my ship" issue.

The more we discuss this incident, the more I realized that this has more to do with surrendering condition being reached quite prematurely. I'll start investigating from there. So far as expected from the design, you should be able to get rid of other ships or disable them to get to the one you wanted.

I'll see what caused this, I'm speculating that this might be something wrong with the advantage we provide to small ships which allow them to take less crew damage from boarding against larger enemies to slow down the boarding speed. The crew not reducing is not intended though, need to find out why.
