Trading Problem
I need some help with the selling of products. When I check the cargo manifest for the best prices to sell goods (apples, wood beams, ore, whatever) it gives me the names of places that have a high demand and where I should get a higher price than what I paid for. The problem is that even in those ports the buyers flat-out refuse to buy (the warehouse does this, almost all the time), or - in the case of the supply shops, gives me only a fraction of the money.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a way in this game to buy and sell resources and ship them somewhere to earn a profit?

try all the shops in that port (community supplier , black market , etc)

Thank you, I did exactly that. Either the corresponding shop is hidden incredibly well under some sub-menus, or it is the game's way of telling me I shouldn't bother with it... no, seriously, neither the trading hub nor the supply trader in Silberblum HQ wanted my stuff. There were no other traders.

The problem with trading is, finding a good spot.
You can Buy yewels for 10% less in some cities that produce these yewels. and sell them in other cities with a nice profit.

Generally speaking, something producing something from a product pays higer. BUT often you have to produce it to make real money.

What helps is the magnification glass at a good, there you see where goods are sold and bought, if you know the harbour

i mostly sell only loot or excess officer quest goods so you need to check several tabs per town for best sell prices if available depending on ware type.
commision store could be hidden within goverment or elsewhere should be check first
next black market but small selection good fore rare loot selling
and than check all others shop for manufactoring,geo-and agriculture etc and even at harbor or warehouse.
very likely the producing elsewhere and shipping slowly without cruise speed cost is needed to max profit but i dont bother for such peasant stuff unless running out of cargo space.
i only hoard freighters at harbors mostly figthing with my battlecruisers instead.

I might be able to help if you could provide the name of the merchandise and the place you are trying to sell them to. Thanks!

I'm very early in the game. I tried buying some wood planks at the logging port (forgot the name), checked the magnifying glass icon in the trading tab and it told me that Silberblum HQ would pay 10% more than the regular price. It's just that none of the Merchants at Silberblum want those wood planks, even though the trading info shows a demand there. Either they do not accept this type of goods at all, or they offer only a fraction of the value.
Because of this, I have stopped trading for this reason because I thought trading was bugged. Maybe I haven't found the proper merchant in the sub-menus?

Okay, I did another check after your answer, got oak planks and oak shafts in Pirnmill and was able to sell them in Silberblum HQ. I swear by my Grandmother's beard that this wasn't possible the last time I tried it.
Anyway, I needed to visit two different traders to sell the planks and the shafts, but at least I was able to make a tiny but visible profit.

Glad to hear that it's finally worked out for you.
