Will this game be killer?
Alt_Reflect Aug 19, 2021 @ 3:50pm
will there be multiplayer?

Do you plan to release the game when it's fully done, or are you perhaps considering early access?

Additionally, does this game take place before or after the reboot series?

why?

why does this exist?

Is this reality, or is this a clear sign from my subconscious that I'm still in the coma?

If we're asking real questions, when can we see the game in action? Can you share how far into development you are, if you're mapping out the project on a timeline?

Are max graphics settings used for the screenshots on the store page?

Not to be rude, but what's linux/proton support looking like, I can't imagine anything too much of an obstacle given this is a single player game, however it'd be useful for linux users, and for the steam deck, coming out in 2022

Hi, im very excited for the game!!! im hopefully getting a new computer soon so ill be able to play it much easier next year.

Heres my question. will this game have a lot of sci fi elements like the series? or return to KBF's roots, with more focus on action and stuff. Or a bit of both? The sci fi was just something slightly offputting in the new series. Not like it was bad though, still a great series.

Hi Everyone! Time to answer some questions!

@Dolphyn - Yes, it will be killer indeed!

@Alt_Reflect - The only multiplayer I will probably add is 4 player co-op.

@MTD - This is very much looking like an Early Access game. I would like player feedback as I develop. The story takes place after the Killer Bean episodes. It's how Killer Bean finally takes down the Shadow Agency.

@dookie - just cause

@copper banana - see answer above

@Mr. 101 - This is very early in development. I'll be posting gifs on Twitter and here. I hope to finish an early trailer in 2 months.

@Tuxxe - Not quite. It's still in early alpha, so I can do much more with anti-aliasing and environment FX for even more max settings. For the screenshots, I used an RTX 2060 Super, and I was getting above 100fps, but a lot of the programming is not running yet. So that will be a big factor in frame rate.

@Avito - Yes, there will definitely be Spanish localization.

@Supper Meat Boy - Yes, it will be available for Linux and Steam Deck natively!

@Crackid - Hi Crackid! This will definitely focus on action! It will be much less sci fi, but it will still have sci fi tech. The whole game takes place on the Shadow Agency island, so expect some interesting bad guys.

Will there be any closed/open beta tests?

I've never heard of Killer Bean anything before, but the store page for this game (plus co-op mentioned above) is extremely up my alley, along with the likes of Vagante and Streets of Rogue.

One thing I'm curious about is progression. You mention leveling up skill trees. Is that contained within a single run? Or is it permanent progression with upgrades that make the game objectively easier for each subsequent run? Because I prefer the former and don't care for the latter. If you were eyeing the latter, would you consider putting in a toggle to make the game play the other way, like 20XX does, and tune the game appropriately so that it's reasonable to expect someone who's good at the game could beat it with 0 upgrades?
