How to get to the 2nd core of the prickly vines

In the puzzle on Cloud Valley to reach the core to the prickly vines, I solved the right side of it first and left the area to get the potion to solve the left one. But when I returned I couldn't take the weight off the right puzzle to put it on the left one. Am I doing something wrong?? Is there another weight I need to solve the left one??

There are other things that have weight that can be applied to certain points. You even have a potion that influences it.
