Says these need to be translated in the item description, however, I cannot remember how I got them in the first place and not sure if I need to keep carrying them around. I've tried making a Granny's Wisdom candy but can't use the candy. Not sure what else to do to get them translated I guess or if you even can do anything with the books at all. Anyone else?

it's a more complicated quest than that. Keep them for now and proceed with other missions.

You definitely don't have to keep carrying them around. (I'm not 100% sure, but I think when I finally got the option to get them looked at, I didn't even have to go dig them out of storage. That might have been a bug though.)
