for the piglets, you almost have to use the potion, as they run towards you when you get too close, but after they deflate they do a bubble and a little hart which you can sometimes catch but, just use the potion unless its in the encyclo task list cause it takes too long to do it that way
Piglets are farmable with the inflation potion.

Each potion of a region seems to have a direct resource-gathering use in the region in this game. Most have additional environmental effects/set pieces they are meant for.
I found that if necessary, the game will handhold you into crafting each of them to progress. When bumping into puzzles in Cloud Vally, I gathered Topic Words I could use for a very hands-on hint from some character in the village. (I checked them out even tho I knew which potion was needed, cause I like dialogue)
The difficulty is that you don't see the bubbles right away, you need to go in the right direction FIRST to notice them as you approach. But once you find the first one, it's usually straight-forward to follow the trail.
I managed to max hit it many times, but that just didn't trigger the additional bubbles to spawn at all
