I do agree, its a simple sounding fix to allow for key binding in options.
Despite the odd keyboard controls, they do a great job of demonstrating and reminding of what keys to use. Sounds like a low bar, but seen too many other games/demos with wrong keys in tooltips or ui.
Using the arrow keys is like keying movement with a controller to LB, LT, RB und RT.
Personally I don't like WASD either, and remap in nearly every game I play. Hope they add full remapping support to this game as well (or ESDF support, but full remapping is always good).
It's funny, in the early 2000s I think a lot of games used Z to interact, but you don't see that much these days.
But I do agree that rebindable keys are a must, including the 1-5 mouse keys, that are often forgotten.
I'll put this game on hold, till get to know that is possible to rebind, even if can be done with an ini file.
