Maybe second only to Factorio in the way it scratches that very specific itch only factory games can. A lot more approachable than Factorio in my opinion so well worth playing if you're looking to get into the genre but don't know where to start

Wow, for such a small team this is an incredible game, with waaaaay more depth and polish than I was expecting. Five stars.

If you like logistics and base building you owe it to yourself to pick this up. Similar to Factorio, Banished, and Dyson Sphere Program but different enough to stand on its own as a unique experience, Captain of Industry is a great example of a low budget game that punches well above its weight.

Aside from all the usual logistical/base building stuff there is minimal "board game" style combat using the upgradable Battleship to pacify the main map for trade and expansion. I enjoyed this extra strategy element and hope the game adds more of this sort of thing. I haven't tried the latest patch that updated the UI and added Trains and Space Stations but I'm fairly certain this game is not going to regress. It's quite far along in development at this point and the tech tree is deep.

On the negative side building and designing workable routes can be a bit clunky at times and despite beating the game in a previous version the excavation system has always given me problems that I never fully managed to solve. Like several of the game's systems that involve terraforming and resource gathering it simply is not intuitive. In addition, I can imagine and plan fantastic logistical systems in this game but I usually tend to run into problems actually building them because if you forget a single minor detail it can ruin the entire design and often you've built the entire blueprint before realizing that a single tiny mistake renders the entire thing useless and often unfixable. The graphics are quite average with the 3D models usually very simple and generic. The soundtrack is good but too limited and repetitive.

Overall fans of the aforementioned logistical games will find a lot to like here. Dyson Sphere Program might be a lot better than this game, but I can't think of too many other logistic basebuilders ahead of this one. Satisfactory, maybe, but it's not really the same genre... but you get the idea.
