I like C one
I can't wait for trans to come! This would make transport of goods long distance very nice.

Edit : I meant trains, not trans. Idk how y'all didn't realize that... Thanks for the free steam points?

Hey! For the steam locomotives, I do have a suggestion of a real life model that cool perhaps be looked into. The 2-8-2 "Mikado" or just 2-8-2 configurations in general, since they were the most widely used back then for tender-locomotive freight transport. Although if you're looking for tenderless locomotives, I might suggest the GWR 4270. I'm not sure how common they were, but in my personal opinion they're rather nice-looking tenderless models. Keep up the great work, really hyped about trains.

As for the diesels, C and D look awesome. If you want other references that go along similar vibes, perhaps give the Renfe 310's and 309's a look. :SoniiSalute:
I like a and e the most e reminds me of the atomic age looking engines in the 30s or 40s I to this day do not know why we in america we abandoned beauty for ugly post modern concrete I wish we still did art deco.
i really like A,B,E and F. i cant narrow that down further as they all have really nice designs.
I think I'd go with B for slow and powerful, D for fast and weak. I'd probably go for E, but it looks a little too streamlined for an industrial locomotive. Maybe something more traditional, I don't know what year exactly the game is suppose to take place in. But maybe go with a more 1950s steam locomotive, rather than a 1920s/30s art deco design. Something that wouldn't be able to be identified as distinctly European or American, maybe take inspiration from Australian steam locomotives. They were directly influenced by both hemispheres.

I also have a different idea for the train tracks. I'd think a partial-procedural track system would work better. Not-intersecting pieces (like straights and curves), would be procedurally generated, while more complex pieces (turnouts and crossovers), would be prefab. I feel like this would make tracks look a lot more natural. This would all still snap to the grid, with each end point obviously. However, curves would skip over grid points in their arc, removing any chance of potato curves.
Ohhh this game just went miles for me. As a train sim lover and resource management. This will be amazing to have once released!
F looks so sweet!! It feels like Future past and present. Its feels Captain of Industry
A, D, and F are my favourite, those look really good, stoked for this update!
I'm hoping it will be possible to add various locomotives using mods like the UP 844/3985/4014, and train cars.
industrial-roller-coaster-tycoon!
Really great work guys!

I like the streamlined steam engine. I think it would help the player to differentiate between differing types of locomotives.
I love the idea of building trains without basing their design on known models.
Anything that breaks away from traditional looking engines would be exciting to me.
*I'm thinking steam-punk-ish.
I like the boxy industrial designs in general for this game but I think a steam engine should have rounded parts. I'm just so used to it. Rounded parts visually represent the boilers of steam tech, it would feel weird to not have that visual language in a videogame just like it would feel weird if explosive barrels weren't red. However one might have said a couple years ago that iron = blue and copper = orange in video game design language and I am very thankful that this game bucked that trend and used the ore colors it did.
I vote for A and F. Looking forward to the update.
