1 - use the diesel to power trucks and ships, creating pollution.
or
2 - crack the diesel into other products, creating pollution, and power the vehicles with hydrogen.
The ultimate problem here is the concept that 'hydrogen is free', because 'desalinators and electrolysers are free', because 'electricity is free', because 'nuclear power is OP and the raw material, ie uranium, is probably the cheapest ore in game, and the tiny amount you DO use can be reduced even FURTHER with breeder reactors....
Are you sure that hydrogen technology should consume fewer spare parts, not more?
