Yes, it's supposed to be an end game sink for more Unity for people who want to extend the gameplay to a much longer playthrough. Hence, COI: Extended :)
In regard to the Nanochip Machine, it's not a direct upgrade to the Microchip Machine. If you were to upgrade the Microchip Machine II to the Nanochip Machine, it could stop working as they do not have the same recipes.
Some buildings in the base game have upgrades and some do not, certain buildings I cannot easily add an upgrade to without re-writing the entire entity and that causes other issues. You'll just need to re-build these ones for now.
My 4090 seems to be handling it well, using the cheats for almost 400 trucks, and things are still running fine, fps does dip at times.
Housing 4 comes in handy!

I know unrelated, but I can't start new discussions on Steam anywhere so I picked this thread cause I've been following it.
edit: It's just me. I'm used to being in the map editor. Sure would love a zoom like that in the game.
edit2: I don't think it's just me.
COIExtended.Cheats should come with unlimited zoom out automatically enabled.
Cool. That was one of those things I didn't notice until it was gone. Awesome mod. Thanks.
Here is a link to some code for another Unity game that shows how to add configuration files to Timberborn. Something like this could be used in your mod.

The default does not zoom out enough for large maps imo. It's very difficult to do things like setting your mining tower designation if want something big. I reverted COI versions until Keranik releases an updated version of the mod. Patiently waiting. It's just impossible to play for me with the zoom restricted so close to the ground.
I will have a patch out tonight (next 8 hours or so) for the latest experimental COI version / soon to be future version that addresses this! Thanks!
This just depends on your map generation, if you start a map without it, simply pick a new seed.
