Recycling options
It would be useful if the waste sorting plant could designate some materials not to be recycled while still recycling other materials.

For example, having broken glass can be more trouble than it's worth. If you want to decrease pollution from your oil refineries, one option is to process sour water > sulfur > acid, and use the acid for producing glass mix. This is useful in the stages of the game before you research some of the other recipes that can consume sulfur or acid.

But if you get a waste sorting plant operating, you will get broken glass back when you process recyclables. You can't just let it pile up or it will block your scrap iron and copper. You don't have the option of dumping it like settlement garbage. And if you're smelting it back into glass, you're not processing as much glass mix, which makes it harder to avoid dumping sour water into the ocean.

It would be good if there were some edict or option to toggle specific recyclables off

Hm, I guess that's kind of the point. Finding the right balance to get rid of the recyclables.
My main use for sour water is fertiliser production from ammonia, which is super easy to get rid of. And sulfur I use prioritised for acid, rubber, improved fertiliser if I feel like it and then slag in combination with some limestone, since that's usually abundant. And slag can be dumped.

And if you increase eg household goods consumption you're gonna have an increased demand for glass as well. Plenty of room to fiddle with the balance of things I would say.

But don't get me wrong, maybe specialised recycling could be a thing, at high cost ofc.
