I simply set up a mining operation near an ordinary cliff and set rock as the priority. Away it went

As long as the cliff face/ slope doesn't have a resource allocated to it you don't even have to focus rock as your target but it's nice if you need it in abbundance though I doubt it seeing as your preferred method gives you oodles of slag for concrete production.
I'm running 3 atm because I elected to build my factory quickly so I ran out of stuff like construction components and yeah.... so...much....slag. Problem is that it converts to crushed slag really efficiently but is only used in paltry amounts to make concrete (even with efficient concrete production)
EDIT: On the plus side of that.... my artificial annex to my island is proceeding nicely xD
I need to figure out the mechanics of this kind of thing. I need a button that says "Put some of that in here, unless that other container is empty. Also take some from here, and give it to that container if it needs some, but not if it's got enough to work with for a while. And put some of this from here into that container way over there, but only when the other containers over *there* have sufficient quantities, and make sure you don't waste time driving a truck around with a single rock in the back seat. Now go."
Now you have my attention.
