Nitrogen tank
So i finished research and i have this warehouse full of nitrogen tanks which evidently can only be used for research, now I can't empty the warehouse or delete it. The trucks will not empty it to the dock where i could delete them and i will not let me use unity to remove the warehouse.

Any ideas?

Just place a Distributor between Warehouse and Factory, place on a specific pipe a chimney and take the priority to warehouse for Nitrogen, so the way is: If warehouse is full of nitrogen, every produced product of it runs the way to the chimney ;)
Learn to use the Distributors, they are not just a help, they are the importent building at every line :)

I don't think he's complaining about what to do with excess nitrogen gas, but left over liquid nitrogen as intermediates for research equipment.

As far as I know there is no other use for it... And no way to dispose of it.

Would be a nice idea to have a way to turn the liquid nitrogen back into nitrogen and steel.

Though maybe if you set the dock to not keep empty, the trucks may dump them there where you could delete them.

The easiest solution would be either disabling liquid nitrogen production until your research has eaten the contents of that warehouse... Or placing a balancer (distributor) if you have the warehouse and production directly connected to the research. In that case, connect warehouse, production and research to the balancer, with the warehouse emptying into research and production being stopped up until the warehouse is empty.

OP indicates that he has finished research (i.e. has no more research nodes to unlock), so I'd assume he has no need for further research equipment. So converting the liquid nitrogen to such would only displace the problem.

Only solution I see is to find a way to get these resources to the dock so you can delete them.

You can quick-remove a transport belt with nitrogen tanks on it, and the tanks get moved to the shipyard. If nothing else, just build/delete some belts until they're all gone.

Missed that part, thank you for pointing it out.

Sry, but it is still the best solution, Between Warehouse/FluidTank and Production, in this scenario nitrogen, so N2O, u still put 1-2 Balancers between Tank and Production, 1-2 Small Chimneys against the Balancers and set the balancers for Priority to the tanks. Every unit which dont get a place in the tank/warehouse runs to the chimney. No exhaust, a tank ( maybe more then 1 ) r filled for next production type if needed and O2 still produces for manufacturing steel or something else where u need O2, but not N2O.
It`s the principle of a Pressure relief valve, nothing else!
Thats the best solution and u dont have to involve any task to em anymore...
Closing the task of production for a factory, u always have to involve, think about it etc.
but with that way, it still run by itself without side effects :)

Good solution, something that should be standard.

Only issue I see is... OP is talking about a warehouse full of tanks. So... Liquid Nitrogen, not the gaseous form you can put through the chimney. Their problem is behind the factory filling the nitrogen into steel tanks, not before it. And since they are done with science, but liquid nitrogen is only used for those... That's where the problem is.

...I'd actually like the option to have liquid nitrogen delivered to the chiller, in return for a hefty decrease of power useage on it. Or maybe a chiller that doesn't take power at all, but takes liquid litrogen?

Best way I have found to get rid of stuff permanently if I've over-produced or don't need it anymore:
Put it in a storage building and drop some rock/dirt on it until the building collapses.

I need to try that .. good thinking outside the box :)

I had this issue with a few spare bricks in a storage. nothing I did would empty it. Solved it by building a conveyor, so the bricks went onto the conveyor. To make the conveyor run, had to put another store at the end of the conveyor, but I deleted that again before it actually got built, but the bricks were now on the conveyor, which can be deleted.

Would like to see a "discard" option on the storage for these kinds of situation where you aren't bothered about the contents and juts want the building removed.

That's an idea... "Discard", a confirmation box in case you clicked by accident.

Maybe turn the contents into trash... Not sure if that's possible with unit and maybe liquid storages, though.

Thanks for all of the replies.
You spend so much time trying to not collapse buildings it really never occurs to you to do it on purpose lol. It worked very well, the warehouse is gone.
