endgame truck limit
How do you play in endgame? Do you belt everthing? It looks like, the limitation factor in endgame is the truck count.

Belt anything I can. Trucks are mandatory evil in beginning.

I have piped every fluid. And I have belts for coal and iron and dirt.

The rest I have not wired. I build expandable assemblies islands for single products where each ingredient has a sock to be filled up (keep full) and the output has s tock keep empty and one single truck assigned which will distribute the products.

So far this worked very well and keep the belt chaos at a minimum.
The pipes however are building a large "road" or whatever once around my settlement.
Some like water even round it 1 and a half times due to the water production moved to to the other side (switched from groundwater to sea water) and the distribvution knot (large storage and emergency groundwater pumps etc) I still keept at it's place.

Year 350 and 140 trucks. I have only around 10 trucks for free distributions. And yes trucks are a limiting factor. I just increased the limit to 160. So I can keep at least 20 free trucks.

The pipe wireing is fine and can be done compact..
However the belts that require 3 square to rise one height... I don't know...here something like a vertical lift unit like in satisfactory is missing to manage that it will not end in chaos and large land waste for wireing.

For the pipes I keep them at lvl 2 and lvl 3 height and have several places where I lowered them to the floor and placed a bridge over them so the extcravator can get to everywhere.

In short: You want factory modules where everything is belted/piped. Trucks can transport raw ressources or final products. I also prefer to belt final products (to houses, labs, rocket, main bus...). Endgame you want raw ressource belts from ships into factory modules.

For me trucks are mostly used for terraforming/raw ressource transport.

Compact factories which are belted and re-belted. Your "starter" factory is rarely there by the time you're done with the game, you'll have rebuilt it a few times.

Trucks are basically, as mentioned, primarily for raw materials and terraforming projects. There are some cases where you haul stuff around because it makes more sense then belting it, such as sulfur, where you're not hauling a 180 truck of it around / minute for each industry.

Anywhere you need heavy flow though? You belt/pipe.

With the addition of a quartz mine and forestry I do feel like the vehicle limit needs a small bump.

We got some bumps. I think peak vehicles got bumped from 140 to 160.

By endgame, the only things I'm using trucks for (besides mining) is moving the graphite and sulfur from my on-site exhaust cleaners. The belts get a little too funky for those.

I prefer to eventually belt those too. Too convenient to ignore. But now we need to keep trucks around for lumber since it comes from planting.

And of course land dumping. Still have not found any meaningful reason to use stacker when trucks do it all better.
