But to be honest, I usually just put mine in distinctive spots. Like next to the ore sorter they are servicing. Or in a cluster and changing their name so I know what each does.
I made this suggestion or very similar recently under the topic 'Mine control towers'. Would go a long ways to making things much simpler to organize where a second control would override the original so you could dump something different within the main mining area.
Example would be dumping rock into the ocean to gain land at +1 above sea level then the second could be set to dump dirt on that reclaimed area to finish at +2 with a dirt surface.
This would eliminate the need to constantly move designations and towers around, the game could charge for the benefit by using tflops or whatever the compute is.
