never enough coal?
i dont think there is a solution to this, but doesnt hurt to ask. i have a coal mine and 1 offshore coal mine, and i can never keep enough coal without slowdowns thx to the steel, iron and copper manufacturing. most other coal using stuff, like boilers have been switched over to their alternate fuel cousins, so the big coal hogs are the blast furnaces. any way to stop the shortages that people have discovered? i didnt see any alternate fuel blast furnaces in the tech tree

It's simple - you're relying way too much on coal
use the chemical processes and oils more.

The arc furnace tier 2 has very low needs of fuel (graphite):

wood -> coal -> graphite (to kickstart AF t2)
exhaust -> CO2 -> graphite (= fuel for AF t2)
Use a balancer for resupply and give exhaust chain the prio.

is there a way to see current production vs usage of an item? i know theres one in the stat window but thats just totals from years. slowing fixing the coal issue now im having an oil issue lol.

and the steam turbines are still a pain in the ass

Well, you could have given more info about your turbine issue in the other post you already made, but apparently you dont like to post in that thread...

A problem with games such as this is that it's easy to overbuild too fast. You need lots more of this and that and the last thing you want to do is sit around watching progress for an hour to see how things shake out.

Go nuclear ASAP.
It will at least halve you coal usage.
And in late game graphite reliant industry will reduce your coal usage to very small values.
Small enough to keep up with coal needs from basic wood burning.

Meanwhile limit your consumption. Make things smaller/slower. It will help.

i have 150MW of sweet solar power and 60MW of hydro, as well as 10 deisel generator IIs standing by as backup, and a nuclear power facility. all i'm missing is batteries. and trains.

How do you get hydro power? Is that a mod?

i ended up deleting all the turbines. i had 4 large tanks of water, plenty of coal, and still the damn turbines wouldnt spin up, always had to have diesel generators, so i just deleted them all and placed 4 large gens and issue solved. Lord knows i have plenty of fuel

Diesel power is very ineffective.

Just make more charcoal.
Burn wood chips for power
absolutely brutalise the forests

I think he meant hydrogen burning.

nuclear plant uses water and produces steam which vents into turbines which churn flywheels which crank generators or aka hydro pardon

"Hydro power" is globally known as power from the kinetic energy of moving water, such as dams or occasionally tidal movement.
