canals, ponds, rivers, etc
Surely nothing new but a quick search revealed nothing obvious so I toss this out as a "just in case you were wondering, here is something a little different"

My goal was/is to build a port for the cargo ship/terminal and refinery far inland. I didn't know if it was possible but so far so good.

No loss of machinery when things flooded though in the future retainer walls will be put up as a makeshift dam and once everything is completely done, yank them up so water enters. Reentry to clean up the bottom/sides isn't possible once filled with water so with the below test, refilling will be necessary.

How pipes will react once "flooded" is yet to be determined but intend to find out.

Exactly how deep/wide a channel must be for the cargo ship to navigate is unknown (or if its even possible) but that's the next on the list.

Regardless, for me it proved an interesting discovery that opens up all kinds of possibilities such as ponds, rivers, etc.

I'm quite curious on this result. Particularly how well the ships can pass through the 0/-1 depth seawall at the end of the canal. Look forward to your !science!.

It'll really take some planning to place and pull the retainer walls blocking sea entry and use of materials. Slag and/or rock are a must.

I had this dug out to -.5 but the dirt collapsed before I expected and flooded everything including the machines though they managed to escape.

Now to refill everything and do over with lessons learned and discoveries made.

Give it a go and share your results. They'll probably be better and faster.

I'm just a pinhead killing time and was curious to see what would happen and if it was even possible.
