Reputation with the settlements

Does raising this really do anything? I have invested a substantial amount into increasing my reputation with various settlements offering trade, and I haven't seen any difference at all.

Do any of you, my fellow players, have actual experience with this? Respectfully, I'm not interested in speculation; I would like to hear from those who have raised it and seen actual results, if any.

That's what it says, yes. But have you, personally, seen this happen?

Sure have. All the trade options are visible from the start, but you can't actually use them before you get the reputation for them.

The higher your rep the more Population you can recruit.

As the others say: I wanted to buy something a few days ago and had to raise the reputation first before I could do that.

But that's an Oil Well, not a Settlement. I'm asking about Settlements, like the yellow icon near the bottom of your screenshot :)

Go to a settlement, mouse over the offers. Some normal offers and almost all contracts need a raise in reputation to unlock. But beyond that, yes... More rep is only more pops you can recruit at one time.

OK, that's what I was asking, So, what you see is what you get. Nothing new will pop up.

Other than emergencies, I find all that stuff worthless. They're just not selling anything I really need. That being said, I realize we all play the game differently.

Just, it would be nice if trade was more varied. It's all the same plain vanilla nonsense.

The thing with the contracts is... Unless you're playing with endless resources (are you? Endless means the nodes on the worldmap, not the deposits on your island), you're going to run out of stuff sooner or later. Things like oil, iron ore, copper ore and others that you can then get through the trading contracts.

And some things like iron ore and copper ore you can *only* get through trade once your home island runs out, since there are currently no worldmap mining sites for these ressources.

Ahhh, now that is a very useful piece of information!

In truth I was overstating the case yesterday. The bigger trucks and dozers come much sooner than Glass Smelting, so I do trade for glass until I get there, and trade is also useful for getting rid of excess wood in the early game.
