Other than that, you can only dump it.
You can reduce your slag production by using the improved furnace recipes using crushed ores, since those produce less slag relative to the amount of material produed.
And you can also use recycled iron, copper and glass scraps, since those recipes don't produce any slag, at all.
As for sulfur, you can use it to make tofu, fertilizer, acid, rubber, even more slag, or burn it. Not much else you can do about it.
edit : don't set the output to the dump hopper to anything , just left the 4 way direct it on it's own. GL
The best way to reduce slag is recycling. Set it up then get the edicts. At level 2 recycling edict plus recycling boosting tech you have 70% recovery rate. Smelting scrap gives no slag so it becomes a huge decrease in slag production.
I know the problem too well. After my island has become too large and I could no longer dump anything into the sea, I have the excess sulfur I processed into slag. The advantage is that I only have to use my workaround for slag.
Because of the distance between the shipyard and my production, I have built loops by conveyor belt, three of them. They are designed to end near the shipyard and have a capacity of 2,500+ each.
Because of the short distance to the shipyard, it is sufficient to have a handful of vehicles free to empty the conveyor belts and unload the slag at the shipyard where I then simply remove the slag.

How is this done...?
If you have slag storage, make sure to give them an upper storage limit beyond which the material will be dumped.
If you want more fine control over what is dumped where, you can use mine control towers, their zones of influence and their local dumping settings.
