Have you built a cargo dock with modules attached?

Probably don't have the tech for cargo docks. Its in tier 2 though one of the immediately available ones in tier 2.

You can't do anything with it until you have find a settlement with contracts available. Just FYI, it took me forever to figure that out.

Pretty sure you typically find an oil rig before you find the 2nd settlement.

even if you do get the cargo ship you can't use it until you find cargo it's compatible with, it doesn't seem to support the default stuff, i have several other settlements found that the trading dock works with but the cargo ship storage addons have nothing selectable.

I just found a second cargo ship and still no chickens, and nothing that is selectable in the cargo dock to transport

However 3 pirate fleets are on my map now
