Report a translation problem
My assumption is that bc 2/4 docks take up a bit less space in the water than 6/8 docks do, upgrading from 4 to 6 would simply break them and they'd become inaccessible. So they had two choices: #1 make 2/4 docks take up more space in the water or #2 make it so you can't upgrade from 4 to 6.
I know it's inconvenient this way bc you can't really plan for it. But if you remember to keep 6 of the larger blocks (thick black line) as a distance between the right border of each dock, you can easily plan ahead. This is the same outside border of a dock, not the space in between.
before i got 6 slot dock i just my main ship to transport stuff once "production is full"
